Ionic bonding involves the transfer of electrons between atoms, resulting in the formation of ions. In this type of bonding, a metal donates one or more electrons to a non-metal, creating positively charged cations and negatively charged anions. These oppositely charged ions are then attracted to each other, forming an ionic compound.
