The Vietnam War witnessed several major battles and turning points that had significant impacts on the course of the conflict.

  1. Battle of Dien Bien Phu: This battle took place in 1954 and marked the defeat of the French forces by the Viet Minh, leading to the end of French colonial rule in Vietnam. It demonstrated the effectiveness of guerrilla warfare and boosted the morale of the Vietnamese nationalists.

  2. Tet Offensive: Launched by the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces in 1968, the Tet Offensive was a coordinated series of surprise attacks across South Vietnam during the Vietnamese New Year. Although the offensive was eventually repelled, its psychological impact on the American public led to a shift in public opinion against the war.

  3. Battle of Hamburger Hill: Fought in 1969, this battle was a ten-day conflict between the U.S. Army and the North Vietnamese Army for control of Hill 937. Despite heavy casualties on both sides, the U.S. forces eventually captured the hill. However, the battle further fueled anti-war sentiments and raised questions about the effectiveness of military strategies employed.

These battles, along with other significant events like the My Lai Massacre, the bombing of Cambodia, and the Paris Peace Accords, played crucial roles in shaping the outcome and legacy of the Vietnam War.
