To better understand the implications of electron spin and the Pauli Exclusion Principle, let’s consider an example. Suppose we have an atom with two electrons in its 1s orbital. According to Hund's Rule, the two electrons will occupy this orbital with opposite spins, one with 'spin-up' and the other with 'spin-down'. This arrangement ensures that the two electrons have different quantum numbers and satisfies the Pauli Exclusion Principle.
