The buoyant force acting on an object immersed in a fluid can be determined using the following formula:

Buoyant force (Fb) = density of fluid (ρf) * volume of fluid displaced (Vd) * acceleration due to gravity (g).

Let's consider an example to illustrate the calculation of buoyant force. Suppose we have a cube of wood with a volume of 0.1 m³ submerged in water with a density of 1000 kg/m³. We can determine the buoyant force acting on the cube as follows:

Buoyant force (Fb) = 1000 kg/m³ * 0.1 m³ * 9.8 m/s² Fb = 980 N

This means that the buoyant force acting on the cube of wood is equal to 980 Newtons.
